Well, it looks like the economic WMD-Weapon Of Money Destruction that was growing, due to the pervasive atmosphere of greed, during the two terms of the Bush administration has detonated on his watch. It would have been more convenient for him and the Republicans had the meltdown taken place after his term. The Republicans might have been able to get away with the usual patriotic claptrap that they use to get someone elected. The old, "I'm more patriotic that you" routine.
But the stark fiscal realities of life are an eye opener. Americans are finally realizing that it's more patriotic to protect America's financial infrastructure from a meltdown then to try to continue the old school Republican deregulatory policies that put us in this mess. Americans are realizing that pumping all that money into Iraq now is a self-destructive thing for our country. Americans are Realizing that true prosperity flows from the bottom up, not the top down. The only good thing about the meltdown is that it happened now and not a couple of months from now. Because of that, there will be no sneaky October surprise and working Americans will finally become the number one special interest group. (10/12/2008 10:17 PM)
